The Vampire Diary: Fallen Angels

Kyira couldn't help but smile.
"Marcello, you're lucky she didn't come out a troll. Human is a lucky draw of the cards." Kyira finally took a good, long look at Bella.
"You do look a lot like your mother. I can't believe how much either. And I can't believe you have her name too."
Kyira's smile faded as she realized the complexity of the situation.
"Okay boys, and girl, what do you want me to do. You know I'll be beside you 100%."

"We just want to keep each other safe. And the best way to do that is to keep together here and not let anyone out of each other's sight." Zane explained. "Bella left Isabella the book. So it's hers to keep protected. We're just here to protect her, and each other."

"This is the first place they're going to look though. How can the three of us, keep her safe against an army Zane? I know you and Marcello have to feel like me right now, I'm jet lagged, borderline depressed and just when I find out you two are alright, I find out Bella, she's not. Have you guys had time to bury her?"
Kyira made her way to the window. She stood by the frame as she wiped her eyes.
I haven't even had time to miss her...

"Not yet." Marcello hugged his arms close, "You know vampires. When they go it's all ash... I... saved what I could." he nodded to an urn on the mantle.

"We need to do something. She was a huge part of all of our lives. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have met you two. Isabella wouldn't be here either." Kyira turned to look at Marcello.
"Maybe we could spread her ashes, down by the creek at the west corner of the property. We caught her down there wading too many times to count. She loved that spot..."

Marcello nodded slowly, trying not to cry.

Kyira stood for a few moments, looking at the faces of the three in the room. Isabella looked lost in her mind, her thoughts pretty much processing everything the three of them had just said. Zane was breaking down, his world shatter by the death of who he always claimed as his sister, and Marcello, his was swirling with the loss of his love. His heart had literally died when Bella turned to ash.
Kyira walked over to Marcello, hugging him tight like her brother. She was heart broken. Their family had been hit hard by the loss of Bella. She finally let go, and cried.

Isabella jumped to her feet, darting out of the room, Marcello burying his head in her shoulder and letting the tears fall.

"Go talk to her M, she needs you." Kyira said as she pulled back from the hug.
"Zane and I can...catch up I guess."

Marcello nodded, "She's... Angry. That we had to send her away to keep her safe. I think she hates Bella and I for it. I hate me for it, too." he pushed his hair back. "I'll go talk to her."

Kyira nodded.
The feeling of abandonment is mutual...
She felt herself wanting to cry again, but crying for herself was not an option. This wasn't about her, it was about both Isabella and Bella.

After Marcello left, Zane wrapped his arms around Kyira's shoulders, "You can be sad for yourself, too, you know." he offered, "We all let each other drift too far away until it was too late."

"Zane...I felt pushed away. I came back here twenty years ago to an 'I'm sorry Kyira, we're leaving and I don't know when we'll come back's note. I was crushed. You all took off to write that diary and I was none the wiser. So I left...and...well I made a few mistakes. I know you'll say 'its okay, we're all together again.' But we aren't all together. And we have to figure out what this all is...all over again..."

Zane nodded, "I... I did try to get in touch with you a few times. That's the funny thing about the Royals." he offered one of his apologetic, sorry-I'm-not-good-enough half-smiles, "Angels can't track you. Especially fallen angels."

"I was trying to hide too. I didn't make it easy on you guys. I was hurt. I went all over Europe, I saw everything a human could want to see. But I was lonely. I missed you all. I especially missed you Zane. You were here with me so much while Marcello and Bella were out doing research. You were home to me. I feel like I'm home again, but I'm not at the same time."
Kyira sighed. She thought about everything from the last twenty years. She felt all the things she had missed. And the one she still missed.
"I wish I could go back..."

Zane placed a hand on her knee, "We all do. Trust me."

"I guess we'll learn to start over. I know whatever Bella had invested in that diary was serious." Kyira turned her head towards Zane. She could feel his emotions, deep down, he was more than worried. He was almost afraid.

"The point of it was for protection. If we know what takes down everything else out there, then we're safer for it. You know all of us. Misfits, outcasts... We don't even fit in with our own people. That's why we're here." He reiterated. "Funny how that's made us all the more hunted."

"You have no idea how badly the Royals want me dead. I stole their secrets when I left. Now its in that book. Lets just hope it keeps us safe. And no one uses it against us."

Zane gave a soft chuckle, "Yeah. That's what we hope to do..." He hesitated a moment, looking up, his soft gray eyes searching hers, "I... I know it's been a while, and now is probably not a good time, but I have to ask..."

"What Zane?" Kyira's gut twisted. This was the part she had hoped might not come. Things had happened since she left, people had happened.

"Where... Where does that put us?" He asked, a bit of worry in his eyes. If he had a heartbeat, it would be thudding like the bass line of a Skrillex song right about now.

"I don't know. We were apart for 20 years. We never had a real chance to start. We barely tried when we went sepeeate ways. I mean...I, well...I guess we're where we were before. The start." Kyira turned her head, looking at the pictures on the mantle. Her, Zane, Bella, and Marcello were staring in each. Her eyes landed on the last one, her and Zane. Kyira was on his back, grinning ear to ear. Zane was looking back, smiling just as big.
"Where do you want us Zane?"

"I want you to be happy." he stated simply, "If that puts me across the map, then that's what I'll do. I'd rather be able to see you smile from here, but, I want you to be happy."

"I want you here. I won't be happy if you're gone again. I spent too much time alone to know that."
