Vampire Diary Ch 7: This is Home

Bella nodded, "How long has it been since you left?"
"Before I met your mother, so a few decades." Zane answered.

"What do you think she left here?" Kyira asked,studying the house.

"I have no idea." Zane shrugged, "I guess I'll just have to look for something I don't remember from before."

"Good thing I have no plans,because this could take a while."

"i stopped by here once right after I got myself free.... we really should have hired a maid. I came out coated in dust last time" he said chuckling a bit. "seems like an eternity since we were kids here doesn't it?" he asked walking a bit closer to the house.

Adrian grimmaced a bit. "I take it this won't end soon?"

Zane nodded a yes to both questions, "Yeah. It does seem like forever ago. It almost was." he mused, "We're going to be here three days, I'd estimate."

"I guess that's not too bad." He said.

Zane nodded, "It should give everyone a chance to relax."
Elle nodded, "That's the part I'm liking the sound of."
Kalvin had Janzelle sleeping on his back, "Anywhere I can set her down?" Kalvin asked.
Zane nodded, pulling the door open to the house. It creaked as he moved it because it hadn't been touched in so long. Zane led him into the back bedroom, where he pulled the white sheet off of an old bed that somehow looked untouched by the years. Zane pushed on it a bit, to make sure it was sturdy, then Kalvin laid Jan on it.

Jason looked around at the floor. so many memories remained of this place...

Zane walked in a circle, looking up in the air, "Wow... It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I can remember so much about this place..."

Jason smirked. "me too" he said kickiing up a floorboard to reveal zane's stash of various items such as toys, magazines, and candy. "i don't know why you bothered hiding this stuff since everyone you knew figured out where it was" he said chuckling.

"And by 'every one I knew', you meant you and mom, right?" Zane smiled lightly.

Jason laughed. "And the various animals that came around" he said chuckling. he stretched a bit. "this place seemed so much bigger back then" he remarked.

Zane put his hand on Jason's head, then pulled it over to the marks on the wall where they had measured their height as kids, "You were much smaller, too." Zane said, scratching in a new notch, "I'd say about three feet shorter."

Jason pouted a bit. "i was never short." he said. "I was always taller than you" he pointed out smirking.

Zane chuckled, "I never said you weren't"

John stared at the blank wall with dark marks all over them. "Did your parents like pictures hung on the wall?" he asked

"Not really." Zane confessed, "But they put them up so we'd feel more at home."

Johnathan shrruged, "Makes sense" he replied

Zane nodded.

Johnathan started walking toward the kitchen when a board broke and he fell in. "Ouch" he said trying to get out, but he was stuck.

"Sorry." Zane smiled a bit, "I should have warned you, this place is falling apart. Has been for years." he held out his hand, "Here."

John grabbed Zane's hand and lifted himself out of the hole. "Thank you" he said while dusting off the debris.
