Kyira, Bella, Marcello, and Zane: How It All Began

Zane ca,e in and knelt on the floor next to her, "Do you mind if I sit with you or would you rather be left alone?"

"You can sit here...I don't mind. I'm just being a cry baby because when Bella dies I won't have any real friend left..."

"You say 'when' like it's inevitable. The way I see it, she has hope as long as she is still alive. And if we can't do anything and she only has a little while left with us, then I say we make it the best time of her life."

"From how the doctor's talk, for her there is a when and it's soon. A month or less maybe. I'm trying to make the best of her time, but it's hard to do when I have to think about what to do when she goes..."

"I trust you'll know what to do if it happens. Just try your best to ignore it at least for a while." Zane comforted.

Kyira sighed and sat up, wiping away the last of her tears from her puffy red eyes.
"I'll try to...for her..."

Zane hugged Kyira, holding her close to the warmth of his body, "That's a good girl."

Kyira laughed a hoarse, choked of laugh. She then sighed in a small bit of contentment and hugged Zane back, feeling his soft hair as it brushed along her pale white cheek.

Zane smiled, then touched his nose to hers gently. "Now, what is so funny?"

"You made me feel like a little kid for a minute..."

Zane smiled, his nose still touching hers, "Is that a good thing?"

"It made me smile didn't it?"
Kyira smiled and closed her eyes.

Zane kissed her lips softly, "That it did. ou have a very pretty smile, by the way."

"Thanks, I usually don't smile much...I actually really dislike my smile..."
Kyira pouted a bit as she remembered her 8th grade picture.

"Well, it's beautiful and don't lat anyone tell you otherwise." Zane assured her.

"I'm the only one who doesn't like it! I want to rip it off and throw it in a meat grinder."
Kyira did wild arm movements as she huffed.

Zane laughed, "Well, I like it. And besides." He kissed her lips tenderly, "If you didn't have a mouth, I couldn't do that."

Kyira rolled her eyes and giggled.
"Yes you could, you'd just be kissing a flat piece of face, like my cheek."

"I like your lips much better." he grinned, "Now, you need to go back to bed. If anything happens with Bella again, we'll handle it."

Kyira nodded half heartedly. She didn't feel like going back to her room so she just laid down on the couch and curled her legs up to her chest.

Zane gently stroked her hair until she had fallen deep into sleep.

Kyira slept lightly, something she couldn't help but do. She started to dream, her dream wasn't pleasant.
She was walking down a dark hallway when she started hearing Bella call for her.
"Kyira? Kyira where are you?"
Kyira started jogging down the hallway towards Bella's voice.
"Bella, Bella are you okay?"
She didn't hear a reply, instead she stopped in the middle of her jog, eyes wide in horror. On the floor lay Bella, dead and laying in a pool of her own blood.
Kyira woke suddenly screaming "NO!"

Zane put his hand on her shoulder, "It was just a dream. Shh... It's ok..."

Kyira didn't even realize it , but tears were falling down her face.
"I hate these dreams...I just hate them."
Kyira whimpered as she laid her face in her hands.

Zane held her close, "We'll watch over Bella." he paused, "This is really eating you up, isn't it?"
