The Beast That is Humanity

Jason shivered. "i don't like the sound of that either" he muttered. "we all need to stay together" he said. "this just got worse"

Aiden snorted lightly, "You think? Now, if only it would start raining..."

"oh please dont' jynx it." he said rubbing his eyes. "if it rains we are without fire and it would be harder to hear anything comming" he pointed out. "and we don't have a shelter yet."

Aiden stood up, despite his sister's clinging onto him, "Then we'd better get started, hm?"

Jason shook his head. "it's too late right now. we'd need lots of wood, and it's getting late. if anyone is out in the dark, they will probably die" he said. "we'll start first thing in the morning" he said. "for now we'll just huddle up around the fire" he said. "if you get cold, get close to someone" he said. he probably had the least amount of clothing but he didn't bother getting close to anyone, as if he wasn't cold at all.

Aiden shrugged and sat back down as his sister clung fiercely to him. Aiden took off his jacket and put it around both of them as the sun set.

Jason sighed a bit as the sun sank. "You guys can all get some sleep. i'll keep watch tonight" He said keeping his spears in hand. "if anything happens i'll wake up guys up" he said calmly as he crossed his arms trying to keep a little warmer.

Aiden nodded, "I can take care of things in the morning, if you would like to sleep then." he offered.

"we'll see about that when morning comes" he said distantly. he was cold, and his skin was turning slightly blue, so he got closer to the fire. he kept his spears in hand in case something happened.

When the sun rose over the horizon, Aiden got up, careful not to disturb his still-sleeping sister.

Jason was nowhere to be found when morning came. one spear was sticking out of the ground nearby, the other spear was no where in sight.

Phoebe was sitting on the edge of the water. She had her knees putted up to her, her arms wrapped around them, and her head rested on them. She'd pulled her silver hair back into a ponytail and was looking out at the horizon.

Aiden looked around, and walked over to Phoebe, "You know where that one kid went?"

Pheobe looked up, "Um..no. Sorry. Last time I saw him was last night,"

"I'm going to try and find him. Can you watch Ava again for me?" he asked.

"Yea, no problem," Phoebe said, standing up. She moved back over to where the fire was dimly burning.

Aiden walked around the beach first, to see if he had stuck around there.

there were signs of his footprints there, leading towards the forest, but there was something troubling, pawprints, big ones. and they were going the same way.

Aiden cursed under his breath and followed the prints into the forest.

there was a clearing covered in much blood and broken branches. there was a trail of blood as if one of the two was dragged... not at all a good sign.

Aiden ran the rest of the path, trying to hurry in case something bad had happened.

out of nowhere a set of yellow eyes watched im from the head of panther. though... the head was all that was sitting there. this was the lake, jason was sittin on the back cleaning his spear and skinning the rest of a very large panther. he was a little cut up but not too bad.

Aiden exhaled a sigh, "You scared me."

"oh sorry about that. but this brute was giving your sister the eye so i tracked him down and made sure he didn't try any unwelcome advacnes" he said laughing. "on the upside his fur will make a good blanket at night." he said. around his neck was a necklace of the panther's teeth. "still trying to decide what to do with teh bones, paws, and head though" he said.

Aiden thought, "The bones could make good weapons."
