Vampire Diary Ch 2: Now or Never

"Who? Nathan?" Bella asked.

"Yeah, who else?" He said.

Jason stirred slightly. he was running a high fever, but in his usual stubbbornness he ignored it and sat up slowly. "i feel like someone used my head for a bongo drum" he muttered.

Zane shrugged, "You feeling better?" he asked.

"if by 'better' you mean it feels like i am holding fire in my hands, my head is throbbing, and i feel weaker than after i was beaten for months then yeah" he sai chuckling a bit at the grim humor.

Zane shrugged, "At least I didn't kill you."

"knowing my luck that might have been a favor" he said staning up uneasily. he didn't notice anyone else yet. "next time remin me not to be so reckless when i'm protecting people" he said holding his head.

Bella made a face, "You were protecting us? I figured it was an attempt at getting attention. No offense, though."

Adrian laughed a bit and put his fist up for a knuckle-touch. "Hah, nice. Me stepping on it's skull was protecting."

"if it was just a cry for attention i wouldn't have held on to the point my hands almost melted" he said looking at her. "besides I don't do that." he said. he rubbed his eyes. "i wish this heaache would go away" he murmured. his skin was pale now too. he looked at adrian. "please i can't right now" he said holding up the bandaged hands. "they already feel like their on fire" he said.

"The knuckle-touch was for Bells man, she burned you worse than the giant lizzard." He said.

"well sorry, my mind is fried right now." Jason said annoyed. he walked out of the room and down the hall. "why i gave my word to this i'll never know" he muttered walking outside the castle to sit in a tree to try and relax a bit.

Bella touched his knuckles lightly, "I didn't mean to be rude... I was just saying what I thought... God, I need to learn to keep a lid on my mouth sometimes."

Adrian shook his head. "No, no, keep your mouth open, rant, speak your mind. It helps kill off stress and you don't have bottled up emotions."

Jason sighed and looked up at the stars. "i wonder if she realized what she was sending me into when i gave her my word" he murmured "then again i stll probably would have done it" he said chuckling.

Zane walked outside, "Jason! Don't scare me like that... You shouldn't be up yet..."

Jason looked down at zane. "sorry about that. you know i don't like staying down when i can avoid it" he said. "besides i don't like the whole getting taunted thing after i got burned almost to a crisp" he said.

"Bella didn't mean it like that. She's kind of had a rough few days. Cut her some slack. Besides, I'll bet she's a good kid when she adjusts a bit more."

"yeah i guess. i could just be a bit moody from this headache" he said rubbing his eyes. "can you tell her i'm sorry for being a bit moody?" he asked watching zane.

Zane nodded, "Can you lay back down before I have a heart attack?" he smiled lightly.

Jason chuckled. "yeah fine but don't blame me if i tear up adrian if he makes another crack at me" he said climbing down slowly before walking back in next to zane.

Zane made Jason lie back down, "We'll stay the night here, just to get caught up on our rest. Adrian, can I ask for a favor?"

Json sighe as he looked up at the cieling. he hoped zane wouldn't forget what he had asked him to do.

"What?" Adrian asked.

"Can you help us get to Transylvania?" Zane asked.
