"Oh, she has money." He said quickly, "But you are her legal guardian until she is adopted." he said simply, "And the concussion has erased her memory of the accident."

"So, what needs to be done to get the money for this visit and such? Do I have to do it or does she have to set it up for me to do it?"

"She already has it set up where you can do it." He nodded, "You have access to anything of hers as her legal guardian. Also, in the event of her death, you are her benefactor."

Kyira nodded.
"So, is there anything that can be done to help with her...condition."
Kyira stressed the word 'condition', meaning Bella's illness.

The doctor shook his head, "Nothing. The disease appears to be degenerative. It's... eating her from the inside out. This won't be the first of these attacks. Really all you can do is try to keep her from hitting her head again. And they should keep getting worse."

Kyira stared down at Bella as she lay there. She felt defeated right now.
"Just mail me the bill for this one, you know my address." Kyira whispered as she sat down next to Bella.
"Oh...and tell the two boys to come in here...okay?"

The doctor nodded and left. Soon after, Bella's eyes fluttered open, "H-how did I get here?" She asked, genuinely confused.

"We were playing Twister and you slipped. You hit your head on the coffee table and blacked out. We rushed you here in case you had a concussion, turns out, you did."
Kyira was going to keep lying until she didn't need to anymore.

"Oh... I'm sorry if I worried you! Did mom or dad call about me?" She asked, hopeful. She was always hopeful that one day her parents would want her.

"No honey...they didn't..."
Kyira felt a twinge of hatred course through her as she thought of the two low lives.

Zane and Marcello walked in, Marcello lingering a bit in the door before he joined Zane.
"Are you ok? You gave us quite a scare." He asked.
"Yah. I'm fine... I think. My head hurts something awful."

Kyira pulled her legs up into the chair so she was sitting in the fetal position. She hugged her legs close and rested her head on her knees.
"Bells, you'll be out of here soon."

"Good. These are driving me crazy." She said, pointing to the IVs in her arms, "Ugh. Needles."
Zane and Marcello couldn't help but laugh a little, even though she looked so small and frail in the hospital bed.

Kyira grinned, but she couldn't suppress a laugh.
"So, when we get you home, remember you will be in bed as long as Doctor Kyira orders."
Meaning, stay in bed or don't get food.

Bella saluted, "Aye, ma'am."

"Good Bella."
Kyira smiled and patted Bella's hair softly.

"Why the sudden friendliness? You were never this nice." Bella asked, a bit confused.

"Just not used to seeing you in a hospital bed is all..."

"You'd think you would be." Bella smiled weakly, referring to her time she spent when she was first sick. It had eased up a bit, or so she thought.

Kyira half laughed, which was slightly choked.
"Yeah, well it's something I'll probably never get used to."

Bella either ignored it, or didn't notice. She stretched, her arms looking so very frail at full extension. "I still can't wait for the doctor to sign my release. I never want to see a hospital again."

Kyira nodded lightly.
"Me either. These places are too sad..."

There was a soft, almost unnoticeable scar on Bella's forearm. She rubbed her hand over it, remembering the tubes and machines that used to be attached to her, "To much pain." she agreed.

Kyira murmured.

Zane and Marcello looked at each other, then at Bella, not understanding all that had gone post-that night.
Bella nodded, then smiled, "Let's think on happier things, shall we? Mom is letting Aayla get a rabbit."
