Are We Angels? Part 1

Estelle shook her head, "What do you want from me? I'm not going to turn my back on Jason. I don't know you, I know him."
Rebecca looked over at Cai, "I-I believe you..."

He hugged Rebecca. "I know... mmbut, Estelle, you have to believe me. How else would I have gotten this cut?" He asked.

"I don't know. All I know is that Jason has never done anything to me, and I barely even know you're name." Estelle insisted.

"I know... but... ugh! I can't put this into words... but... just hear me out." Someone screamed from one of the buildings. "Rebecca... could you get that?"

Rebecca looked around, "Hear what?"

((Was that Estelle?))

((No, he's asking Rebecca to get the person from the building, leaving he and Estelle alone.))

((OK.))
Rebecca flew up to see what the sound was.

Cai looked to Estelle. "If you had just listened to me, this could have ended well." He said as a tendril of shadow began to twine up Estelle's leg.

Estelle looked around, "What are you doing?" She said nervously.

"Eliminating a minor problem." He said as the tendril moved up to her stomach, thrusting into it.

Estelle gasped, then groaned lightly as her body hit the floor.

Cai chuckled as the tendril disperesd and he kicked the body. "If you had only listened... you would have made a nice demon." He mused, tossing her body into the burning building. He then started to drag it out, making it look like the building colapsed on her.

Jason had long ago finished his interrogation. He had flown back and just barely caught a glmpse of what happend. "cai you monster!" he shrieked as this time he put a REAL gash in his chest as he knocked him away from Estelle. He picked up the small girl and flew back, leaving cai laying there. He set ehr on a building and checked her over. the wound was in her stomach... hopefuly not in a vital spot. He used what minor healing abilities he possessed to fix the wound and try to heal her.

Estelle was already beyond healing. She used what small amount of strength she had left to speak, "I-I found out what your name means..." She began, "Healer..." as she trailed off on the last word, she died.

Cai faked a shout and fell limp, the attack in full view of Rebecca as she came back, though not to Jason's notice.

((Wow, I thought that was just for effect, but "Jason" really does mean healer xD ))

Rebecca landed next to Cai, catching him a bit, her eyes flaring anger at Jason.

"Rebecca... he killed her...." Cai said softly, looking at the two fly away.

"My god..." Rebecca began, "Why? I mean... how?"

"He used the sword... he drained the life out of her so they could transfer it into your mother... Rebecca, he doesn't know you still trust me... you can get close to him... bring me that sword." He said.

Rebecca nodded, "Will I see you again soon?"

He nodded. "You can... meet me tomorrow night, under the bridge. But don't try to get the sword by then... they'll be suspicious."

Rebecca nodded, "I will. I promise."

He smiled. "Good. I'll see you then."

Rebecca nodded and flew after Jason.
