Vampire Diary Ch 6: Cirque Demonic

Kalvin exhaled, "Now that we've taken care of that..."

Adrian stood up and walked over.

"Let me kind of explain this..." Kalvin said simply, "The human mind is like a glass dome. Everyone has little chinks in theirs, fears and such. What a mind worm does is find those chinks and chip at them until it breaks the entire dome. With Jan, the mind worm's task was easy. Her chink was a crack that had already broken a few pieces off. What the mind worm did in her case was not only break her mind, but it more or less crushed it into a glass powder. Trying to put together that much damage is going to take a long time. I was hoping maybe you would know enough to try and help us put it together quicker."

"Well... I guess I might know her memories and such, but mental stuff isn't my thing. How can I help?"

"Well, I could show you some different fragments, and you could tell me which ones go together." Kalvin suggested.

"Go for it."

Kalvin nodded, "Kyira, help me sort these into ones with similar people in places." he showed him a fragment of a memory with an older looking man, pale beyond belief, "Who is this?" he asked.

"Gilles de Rais. Friend of father. Can you... delete memories?"

"Yeah, but it's not recommended...." Kalvin said, skimming through the memories, flinching a bit, "Oooh my... That's not a good one..." he said, showing him a flash of memory with that man holding a hot poker onto Jan's back.

"Remove everything up until we found her. We can build back up the basic skills. Just remove it all."

Kalvin rolled her head over a bit, showing him the cross that was burned into the back of her neck, "Is that why?"

"One reason." He said, grimmacing.

Kalvin nodded, "She never stopped believing you were coming back..." he muttered. "Touching, really."

"Don't rub it in." He said, sighing.

Kalvin nodded, "Alright, erasing childhood memories. Gotcha. Anything you'd like me to keep other than things she's learned?"

He shook his head.

Kalvin nodded, "I'll keep all the old stuff locked up. Just in case. Don't worry about someone else breaking in, though, only I can open it."

He nodded. "All right, good."

Kalvin nodded, sorting through it all taking about two hours since he was skipping over memories. Janzelle was still sleeping, her head rested in Kalvin's lap where he had been sorting through her mind.

"Thanks for this." He said.

Kalvin nodded, exhaling, "Sure thing. No problem."
About this time, Bella turned over a bit, groaning as she woke.

He smiled a bit and looked back at Bella. "Uh... mind if I go?"

"Not at all." Kalvin said simply.

He smiled and nodded, returning to Bella.

Bella put her hand on the side of her head, groaning lightly, "My head..." she muttered.
