Vampire Diary Ch 5: Prince of Darkness

Janzelle stood, making him sit down as she took a few steps back. The smell of the blood was overwhelming for her.

Jason didn't really look at anyone, picking up his bowl from before and smearing the goo over the holes to cover them up before wrapping them up rather awkwardly with one hand and teeth. "sorry you had to see that but that snake was fast and got here before i could intercept it" he said not looking at anyone.

"Good god..." Bella muttered, "Where did it come from?" she held her hand over her mouth.
Janzelle had to stand away, facing the outside, catching his breath.

jason shrugged. "i don't know. all i know is it wanted that book and i guess to make you a snack in the process" he said rubbing his arms. "it didn't count on a demon willing to protect a human though" he said, mostly to himself but loud enough to be heard.

Bella held her breath, knowing he was talking about her. So, it was all her fault these people kept getting hurt. She felt a wrenching knot in the pit of her stomach and the overwhelming thought of I have to get away from here...

Jason noticed how she seemed to squirm. "before you get the wrong idea, that thing was heading this way anyway. my guess is it was going to devour those at this barn anyway but got a bit sidetracked when it sensed the diary" he said. "if you're worried about me, don't be. I'm more than used to pain. i'm not going to die anytim soon. though if possible a hug would be a nice thanks" he said smiling a bit to himself though most certainly not expecting to get what he wanted.

Bella hugged him tightly, whispering something in his ear, then bolting out the door, not seeming to notice her injured leg.

Jason looked at adrian. "adrian, the book is in the hay next to you, grab it, and guard it with your life" he said. he took off running after bella, catching up about a quarter mile away. "bella stop" he said comming up alongside her. "let's talk about this" he said softly to her.

Bella kept running, gaining a sudden bolt of speed until she was o longer in sight.

Jason sprinted after her again. he was much faster than any human. he grabbed her wrist. "bella you may be able to leave the others behind but you're stuck with me" he said.

((I'm planning something here, let her go.))

Bella twisted her wrist free of him, bolting into the woods and through the densely packed trees.

Jason did his best to follow her, but he was frankly much bigger than her, so he was greatly slowed down by the trees to the point she was far away from him.

He was able to follow her to the river, but at that point, she was no where to be found.

Jason swore under his breath. He sniffed around and searched around the river for any sign of her.

The scent went into the water, but afterword there was no sign of her.

Jason lept to the other side and sniffed around, searching for anything to suggest she just crossed and kept moving.

There was no sign of her on the other side of the river either.

"she must have swam to hide her scent.... why is it i always get stuck trailing ones that are hard to find?" he muttered running along the banks downstream jumping from side to side to search for her scent.

((Sure. I take it she's in the river?))

Janzelle looked up, "Where did they go?"

The river was a clear blue, flowing smoothly, though for a brief moment, a trail of red drifted past.

Jason saw the trail and his eyes grew wide. "that's not good" he said to himself as he followed the trail to the source.
