Vampire Diary Ch 5: Prince of Darkness

Jason wasn't anywhere in the area. when he wanted to dissappear, he hid very well, but it was really unlike him to not come for someone in trouble... Zane would know that well enough.

Zane looked between Bella and Adrian, torn between going to find his best friend, going to help Janzelle, and staying to keep Bella safe. Bella could tell that they needed to be other places, "Adrian, you should go find Jan... She could be in trouble. Zane, go after Jason. He needs you more thane I do right now."

if Zane knew jason at all, he would know that Jason would NEVER put anyone's safety before himself. Besides, Zane knew about Jason's promise to bella's mother, he would know to see to it that it was fulfilled.

"You're comming with me; I'm not leaving you here alone." He said, slighing her onto his back.

Bella held onto him as Zane spread his wings and flew off to find Jason.

Jason was standing in a clearing, his shirt was in shreads. His nails had become black claws, and his fangs had grown. his hair was longer than before and his eyes were blood red. all around him lay fallen trees and the remains of a second snake. His demon side was deadly, and it had none of jason's restraint.... Zane would know to stay well clear of this form.

Zane held his breath. He still had scars from the last time this had happened.

Jason threw his head back and howled at the sky. he hadn't scented zane yet, so there was still time for zane to leave and warn the others. After all, if Jason scented them.... they would be in grave danger...

Zane thought, it could either follow him or find the others. After all, if Janzelle was hurt, they couldn't move her too much. Zane inhaled, landing a few feet in front of the demon Jason.

Jason's body shook a bit, snarling at Zane. "leave now" he hissed, trying to keep from letting the demon attack zane again.

"Jason... You have to calm down..." Zane said slowly.

"zane i can't" he hissed. "heart..... gone...' he breathed before a snarl was let out and he almost lunged at zane. "go now while i can still keep it down" he said gripping his head.

Zane shook his head, "Jason, I told you. We're best friends. When the rest of the world walks out, we walk in, remember? I'm never going to leave you." Zane looked Jason in the eyes, speaking honestly, "Even if it kills me."

"Zane go! I will come back when i get control back" he hissed taking a shaking step towards zane. he was doing everything he could to keep from hurting zane.

"I won't leave you." Zane said simply.

Jason turned and fled, controling his demon side enough to run away from zane, back the way he had come. He lept at the first thing he saw, a bat demon, that was about a half foot away from janzelle about to kill her. Caught completely offguard by a full fledged demon, the bat didnt' stand a snowball's chance in hell. in under a minute the demon's head was ripped off and crushed against a tree. the body was ripped litterally to shreds. in his demon state, he couldn't recognize friend from foe. he started to turn towards Janzelle...

Janzelle was on the ground, her chest heaving, struggling for breath. She reached out her hand, blood on her lips, "J-Jason..." she whispered, her hand touching his as her whole body trembled.

Jasn turned to her more, facing her. His eyes were still fully demonic, but he did not pull his hand from her grip, his body shaking a bit as he tried to keep his demon side from devouring her.

Janzelle forced herself up, wrapping her arms around him, her whole body warm and dripping in blood.

Jason's eyes returned to normal. His demon side had gone back. he slowly wrapped hsi arms around her too as he realized what was happening. "are you alright?" he finally asked.

Adrian appeared in the clearing, Bella on his back. He looked at Janzelle, who was blood soaked. "So help me, if you did that to her...." Adrian trained off, his lips pulling up over his fangs.

Jason looked over at Adrian. "you can relax. it wasn't me. it was the bat demon. though you probably can't tell that's what it was now" He said looking back at the bloody mess that was all that was left of the bat demon.

((Do you, by any chance, know if there's and Alternative or metal cover of that song? Sum 41 could do that pretty well.))
Adrian's breathing slowed a little as he looked at the bloody pile.

"yeah I tend to get a bit....errr....ferocious when people try and hurt my friends" he said rubbing the back of his head a bit.

Janzelle gasped for breath, sliding to the ground.
