Kyira, Bella, Marcello, and Zane: How It All Began

Kyira sat in the front seat, her fingers shaking madly and tears falling silently. She couldn't sob, not now, and definitely not yet.

Marcello had Bella out of the car and in the ER before Zane had even parked. The doctors rushed her in, not paying attention to paperwork because of the condition she was in.

Kyira sat on the floor, banging her head into a waiting room chair, cursing quietly.

Zane put his hand in between her head and the chair, "Beating yourself up isn't going to do anything." He paused, "They said we could follow her if we wanted to."

"Give me a knife and I will."
Kyira felt Bella would die, not believing Bella could survive the fall or cutting her throat.

"Why do you want a knife?" He asked, "Marcello is already back there. Come on. If she makes it, I'm sure it's you she's going to want to see."

"Fine..."
Kyira stood and walked back there with her arms hugging her chest.

Zane walked back with Kyira, his arms around her shoulders. Bella was in a room with one glass wall so they could see her. her entire body was covered in blood and her arms and legs were bent at sharp, unnatural angles. She was hooked up to monitors and machines, bringing to mind what she had said earlier, "I hate IVs."
Her eyes were half open, green irises staring blankly at Kyira. They almost seemed to speak, registering agony, pain, and a plea for help.

Kyira's eyes closed in horror and she turned into Zane's chest. Seeing Bella like this would haunt her for the rest of her life.
"I can't believe...she's...oh my gawd Zane..."

Zane hugged her close to him, barely able to stand seeing her himself. "Sh... She'll... She'll be OK. I'm sure of it."

"I really hope you're right..."
Kyira mumbled quietly while she cried.

Zane held his breath as a high, monotone beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep came from Bella's room. They both knew what tit meant as the word, "Clear!" came through, followed by the spzt electrical sound.

Kyira couldn't breath for what seemed like hours. She didn't know if she could until she heard Bella's heart beat again.

Zane sighed in relief when it began making steady beep beep sounds once again, but according to the doctor, she was still in critical condition. Bella's eyes opened all the way, and her dry lips moved slowly, mouthing "where's Kyira?"

Kyira sighed in relief when she heard the beeping of the heart monitor.
"Thank goodness..."

"She wants to talk to you." One of the doctors came into the hall and said to Kyira, "But you might want to be fast. We don't know how long she can stay awake."

Kyira nodded and went into the room. She sat in the chair beside Bella's bed.
"What is Bella?"

"You were right." She said softly, her green eyes glazed over and weak, hanging on to life with everything she had, "About my mom... you were right. She never wanted me... I-I should have listened to you..." a tear rolled down her cheek, "I-I don't want to die, Kyira..."

Kyira gently took her hand and squeezed it lightly.
"You won't die Bella, I won't let you. Just hang on, think of the good things. Once you're out of here, you'll be back home, with me and the guys, where you belong. Just hold on."

There was no color in her cheeks, nor life at all in her face as the monitor slowed down, "All I wanted was for her to say 'I love you'..." She whispered before her head rolled to the side and the monitor beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeped again.

Kyira gasped as she hit the nurse button frantically.
"Don't you dare die on me Bella, don't you dare die!"
Kyira screamed as she punched the button if frustration.

The nurse came, calling the doctors back in. What seemed like hours past, before the doctor came back into the hall, "I'm sorry." He said in a dry, hollow voice, "She was one of the purest children I had ever met."

Kyira screamed and hugged her chest as she fell on the ground crying.
"No!!! She can't...she can't be dead!"

Zane and Marcello both held onto Kyira, a little ring of support for each other, each one sobbing in their own way.
"Sh-she's gone..." Marcello hiccuped.

Kyira couldn't breath. All she could do was nod as she curled into a ball and cried.
