Vampire Diary Ch 5: Prince of Darkness

Adrian appeared in the clearing, followed by Janzelle.

Jason smiled at her. "i'm sure you'd like it. I managed to teach Zane how to dance a bit, and if there was ever a guy with two left feet it would be him" he said laughing. he looked up when adrian and janzelle entered the clearing.

Zane nodded, "True story."
Bella looked up when she saw Adrian, her face brightening, "Adrian..." she said breathlessly, as though him coming here were a blessing.
Janzelle stood behind him, smiling, "So everyone's OK?"
Zane shook his head, "Bells probably re-broke her leg."

Adrian got down onto his knee's infront of Bella, hugging her tightly. "Are you okay? Why'd you run off like that? You know what, nevermind, I'm just glad you're okay." He said, holding her.

Jason sighed a small bit, noticing how she reacted. When he saw how Adrian greeted her he stood up and started walking away from the group. "i'm going to see if I can find some more herbs before we get carried away going somewhere" he said leaving on his own again.

Bella hugged him back, "I'm fine..." she said softly, just holding on to him.

Jason wandered rather aimlessly through the brush. "so much for getting somewhere" he muttered. "seems all I got was my hopes up" he said sighing as he picked some herbs.

"Are you sure? What happened?" He said giving her another tight hug before pulling her onto his lap and cradeling her in his arms.

"I slipped on some wet rocks..." she blushed.

"Ahh." He said as if that had cleared everything up.

Jason sighed. "i don't know why I have hope anymore" he murmured. He heard something moving in the bushes nearby.

She nodded, a bit embarrassed.

Janzelle ran over to Jason, seeming confused, "Why did you leave?"

He smiled slightly and kissed her cheek, holding her. "Don't worry about it. I'll have to thank Jason when he gets back, though."

She nodded, "I was afraid that someone would get hurt... If I stayed with you..."

He smiled softly. "And you'd get hurt if you ran off. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather take a hit myself than let you get hurt."

Bella shuddered, "Id' rather not think about anyone getting hurt at all. Especially not for my sake."

He kissed her again. "Then put your mind elsewhere."

She nodded, kissing him back.

He held her, kissing her softly. "Much better now, isn't it?"

Jason looked up at Janzelle, all the spark of life gone from his eyes. They weren't even golden anymore, just grey... even his hair, which used to shine now seemed dull. "It's just a guy thing I guess. Hide your emotions. If you don't your heart just gets broken" he said with no emotion in his voice. "just go back with the others, I need to be by myself for awhile" he said moving away. He started murmuring to himself, "Do you ever feel like breaking down.... do you ever feel out of place.... like somehow you just don't belong, and no one understands you.... Do you ever wanna run away, do you lock yourself in your room... with the radio on turned up so loud, that no one hears you screaming...."he trailed off a bit, now out of sight as his song continued.. No matter how he tried to hide his emotions, his voice always gave away exactly how he was feeling, and the feelings were often infectious on those who heard him. "No you don't know what it's like.... when nothing feels alright... you don't know what it's like to be like me...." One thing Jason had never found out was that his voice carried far. Very. Far. The entire forest and most of the surrounding area could hear it. "To be hurt, to feel lost to be left out in the dark, to be kicked, when you're down, to feel like you've been pushed around.... to be on the edge of breaking down, when no one's there to save you, no you don't know what it's like.... Welcome to my Life...." his voice trailed off. Jason didn't want to be found now, so his voice ceased to sing, and he was now beyond possibility to be found.

Bella nodded, holding onto him, "You always make things better."

Janzelle held onto her arm, her chest seeming to ache. She could hear him singing until he stopped. She could somehow understand how he was feeling, though she had been kept in solitude since she was four years old, only hearing her father's voice in her head, taunting, screaming at her... A sudden, intense pain seized over her entire body and she screamed once, dropping to the ground.

Adrian smiled and began to say something before his head shot up, hearing Janzelle's scream.

Bella looked worried, "Was that your sister?"

"I think so...." He said, standing quickly but not dropping Bella.
