Vampire Diary Ch 5: Prince of Darkness

"It's a bale of hay. It is flat." He said simply.

"yes but if you're holding her her leg can't be flat now can it?" Jason pointed out. "just humor me on this" he said rubbing his eyes annoyed.

Zane came back with the plant, pulling his wings close to him.

"Then I'll set her down on the bale. Duh." He said.

"either you or your sister will have to move then. the bale isn't that big" Jason said as he took the herbs from zane and produce a bowl from somewhere in his coat. He set the herbs in the bowl and started to mix it like indians did. He closed his eyes and hummed softly to himself, saying a few words that would mean nothing to anyone but a shaman.

"I'll push a second bale over." He mused, hopping off and pushing another bale next to the one he had been sitting on, after setting Bella down, of course.

Jason stood up and removed the bandages from her leg. he dipped some of the uncrushed leaves in the sticky solution in the bowl and covered the injured part of her leg in them. "now don't move her for anything." he said to adrian. "if you feel you have to hold her do no more than put her head on your lap" Jason said sternly.

"Dude, chill out. I know. One of my best friends was a Wiccain, she told me about this herbal crap. Not that I really paid attention to the specifics, but I remember enough."

"i don't care if you know i'm going to say it again to be sure so that she gets better as soon as possible" Jason said in a whisper so as not to wake her.

Adrian rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

Bella was still sleeping soundly, Janzelle watching her curiously like she had never seen someone asleep before, "Is she dead?"

Adrian looked at her. "No... why would you think that?" He asked.

Jason growled quietly but he had enough self restraint to pick up his herbs and start to store the contents in some bags for later use. he lookd at Janzelle. "no she's just asleep, so it's best if we keep quiet for now to let her sleep" he said still whispering.

"But she's not moving... And her eyes are closed..." She seemed genuinely confused, not to mention a bit hurt that Jason had snapped at her.

Adrian picked up Janzelle and set her beside him again. "Haven't you ever slept?"

Jason coughed quietly. "sorry for sounding rude" he said. he hadn't intended for it to come off the way it did. though adrian really did annoy him most times.

Janzelle shook her head, "No... I don't think so..."

He smiled a bit. "You've got a lot to learn, sis."

Janzelle nodded, "Have I gotten bigger?" she asked, "You were so much taller than me last I saw you..."

He laughed a bit. "A lot bigger."

Janzelle nodded, "How long has it been? Please tell me?" She asked innocently. Her personality wasn't that much different from when she was four.

He frowned a bit and looked down. "A long time...."

"How old am I?" she asked, still curious.

"You're younger than me... and vanity-wise, about seventeen."

While the siblings caught up, Jason kept an eye on bella from the rafters. He wanted to be sure she was alright even when she was asleep. Could he help but be worried when she was so vulnerable?
