Blood of the Innocent: Part One

He smirked. "Because I'm in recorded history. Though, I doubt anyone believes it. I could say the same for you, though."

"true enough. I'm in historical documents as far as the roster for the American army. and there are pictures of me that go with it" he said. "though i guess it is a two way street" he admitted. He was starting to cool down, but another insult or being called a fledgling would most definately set him off again.

He smirked. "I'm in numerous works of ancient art, paintings, and stories as well."

"okay okay stop with your bragging i get it" he said rolling his eyes. "you used to be somebody important i got it" he added.

"What do you mean 'used to be'?" He said, frowning.

Jason laughed. "well i've never heard of you before. but mostly i was just giving you a hard time" he said.

Adare sighed, annoyed by their arguing. Looking up occasionally, just to see if they had progressed into a fist-fight yet. Since they hadn't, and there were more questions she had, she decided to put a quick end to this, "You're both right. Dominic, you could be less of a, I believe the term you use now is, a**hole about everything, but Jason, our power does grow through age and respect for your elders is something that vampires have carried over through our human lives. But, respect is different from worship. As for Dominic's war experience, I've witnessed most of the battles he's spoken of myself and I have to testify that he is not lying. And, if you two could cease the arguing or take it outside, you would help me to rid myself of this headache."

He nodded and shut up. "Yes ma'am. Do you need to know anything else?"

Jason nodded and closed his eyes. It was odd but he already respected and trusted adare enough to believe her on her word. he turned around and moved into a corner to sit and read his book. every now and again he would move his hand through the air and a bit of fire would appear for about a half second before going out. each time it went out he frowned and just tried again.

Adare nodded, "The council. It was a bad idea when it was started, but I need to know how it has fared over the years."

"The council? The Elder Council? Oh! It's fared greatly, if I may say so."

"What are its primary duties?" She asked.

"Aside from keeping the supernatural world a secret to mortals, that is Member-only information. I do apologize."

Adare nodded, "I understand, no apologies necessary." she started walking toward the door.

"Wait! Where are you going?" He askedm, following after her.

"If I can't get answers from you, I'll find someone else." she said frankly.

Dominic stayed silent for a moment. "... All right, I can help."

Jason was painfully aware that right now he was pretty much useless to adare. He sighed and walked out the backdoor to practice his pyrokinesis. it wasn't long before he got tired of this and eventually just started to roam the city. He was long tired of older vampires casting a shadow over him. It was times like this that he felt most.... vulnerable.... and alone... ever since his friend was killed he had found it hard to escape it. He really didn't have anyone to turn to. As far as vampires went he was looked down on by most and was only kept around when he was usefull. Adare was the most recent case of this. Now that he had gotten her here, he was virtually worthless to her. Expendable. That was how he had always been...

"Thank you." Adare smiled lightly.

Dominic nodded a bit. "But we can't talk about it here... it's classified."

Adare nodded, pushing a mental note into Jason's head as he left.
I'd like to see more of you around. Meet me at the square tomorrow night as soon as the sun sets.

Dominic stood at the doorway, waiting for her.

Adare followed him out into the street, "IF you don't mind my asking, where are we headed?"

"Tepes Manor." He said, stopping a cab.

"And that would be known to me as?" She asked.
