Home: Adrian's Beginning

Nikki resisted the urge to yank down her shirt to make sure she wasn't lying. "No way!" He grinned and laughed.

"Way." Adrian said. She pulled down her shirt a little to show the top of the tattoo.

Nikki squealed with delight and grinned brightly, "Now I just wish I had two eyes to see it with."

"I think once it heals up a little, your eye should be fine." Adrian said, inspecting her patching-up handiwork on Nikki's face.

"Hopefully. That one was the only one that worked right to begin with." He said, referring to the fact that he had a lazy eye.

"You know, you can't even tell that one's weird." Adrian said, pointing to Nikki's weird eye.

Nikki laughed, "Not until I do this..." He looked straight up and the one he had pointed to rolled off to the side.

"It's not lazy, it's just....rebellious...." Adrian said.

Nikki laughed, "Yep. It rebels against the laws of nature."

"Ah, well, screw the laws of nature. No one care about them anyways." Adrian said, trying hard not to laugh at herself.

"No one dies a virgin, life screws us all." Nikki laughed.

Adrian collasped in a fit of giggles, mixed with the weird snorts that always happened when she laughed too hard.
"Oh my god, that's hilarious!" She said, wiping her eyes and trying to sit up.

"Maybe I shouldn't have said that while you were driving..." He muttered.

"No, no, I'll be okay..." Adrian said, struggling to keep a straight face.

Nikki smiled a little, then suddenly started poking her arm like a madman, "LOOKLOOKLOOKLOOK!!!" He screamed, pointing at the sky. Thousands of stars seemed to be falling from the deep blue oblivion above them so quickly, it looked like in a few minutes, there would be no more left in the world. Nikki blinked and made a funny, confused face, then suddenly jerked the car wheel to the left, the vehicle missing a running baby deer by only a few inches. "That... was weird."

"What the hell was that?!" Adrian said, referring to the fireballs streaking through the sky. They looked like your average shooting stars, except they were bigger and coming too close to Earth to be safe.

"I wasn't talking about that..." Nikki mused, "I saw you hit the deer, then I was back here again, and we missed it..." He looked up, "But yah, the sudden meteor shower is kinda weird too."

"What? I think you're just overreacting." Adrian said, puling the car back onto the road.

Nikki pointed to her hand, "Um... A-Adrian..."

"What?" Adrian said. "What's wro- OH MY GOD!" She shook her hand violently to put out the little flame that had appeared there. Strangely enough, it didn't burn her hand. She quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road.
"What the hell is going on?" She asked, staring down at her hands in disbelief.

Nikki shrugged, "I have no idea, to be honest."

Adrian flexed her hands, turning them over and onspecting them closely. She touched the tip of her pointer finger, and a tiny flame shot out of it. "Ah!" she sxclaimed, shaking her hand.

"It's a lot cooler than deer-vision..." Nikki complained.

"Deer-vision?" Adrian snickered. "Well at least you can make sure that no one ever eats a deer again..."

Nikki laughed, then stared blankly into space for a second. He shook his head, "Maybe it's not just deer..."
