Kyira, Bella, Marcello, and Zane: How It All Began

Bella smiled, "Yay! I hope you can eat fast, 'cause you'll starve otherwise."
Zane smiled. Was Kyira really going to let them stay with her?

Kyira turned towards Zane smiling.
"You coming with your brother, or am I going to have to drag you along?"

Zane smiled, his dark black eyes sparkling, "I'll come. Marcello and I never go anywhere without each other."

"All right then. Come on Bella. Let's go before we get trampled."
Kyira turned back once to wave bye to Bill, who waved back and winked. She grinned and walked up the steps as quickly as she could, before someone pushed her down.

Zane spat his gum out and tossed it into the electric blue hair of the person who had knocked Kyira over, then helped her up, "You ok?" he asked, his voice full of concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Should have seen that one coming."
Kyira grinned then laughed a bit.
"Crazy concerts...."

"That's why I always chew gum." He shrugged, "Revenge."

"That's also why I carry a brick..."
Kyira laughed as she pulled out the black and purple striped brick in her purse.
"Yeah, I'm crazy."

"Not crazy, just eccentric." Zane smiled.

Kyira giggled a bit and put the brick away. They had soon reached the parking lot and were next to Kyira's car.
"Figure out your seats now people."

Bella hopped on the roof, "I'm here!"
Marcello and Zane looked at each other and laughed.
"Well, I call shotgun." Zane smirked and slid in.

Kyira gave a crooked grin and pulled Bella off the roof.
"No, bad Bella. Inside, behind me."

Bella squealed like a child and kicked her legs, "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!"
Marcello looked at Kyira, "Is she ok?"

Kyira shoved Bella in and put the buckle on.
"No. Give her a good whack if she doesn't stop soon. Or tell her I burnt the pizza. She'll calm down."

"YOU BURNT THE PIZZA!?!?!?!" She screamed, cracking the rear view mirror.

Kyira's face grew grim. She reached back and hit Bella upside the head, knocking her out long enough to drive them home and have her a pizza fixed.
"Don't worry about her. I do it all the time. No long term damage done...yet."

Bella's phone started ringing in her pocket. The caller ID said that it was the family's doctor.
Bella wasn't in any state to answer, so Marcello handed the phone to Kyira.

"Kyira answered the phone as she pulled out of the parking lot and got onto the highway.
"Hello, Kyira Valo speaking. Bella can't come to the phone at the moment."

The doctor's voice was tired and sympathetic, "Are you a friend of hers?"
As if he knew the answer, he continued on, "I'm dreadfully sorry about Bella, I am. She's a sweet girl. I was just going to call and give her the results of the blood tests we had performed the other day. Bella is terminal. We can only give her a month to live."

Kyira felt her heart stop for a minute as the phone fell from her hands. All she could do is stare ahead and drive. She's lucky she didn't break down in tears as soon as she heard terminal.

Zane looked at Kyira worriedly, "Is everything OK?"

"No...Bella....Bella could....die...in a month or...less...." Kyira said barely above a whisper.
She felt the tear form in her eye and she didn't even care, she just let it fall.

Zane wiped it with his thumb, "How? I mean... she seems fine..."
He looked over at Bella, whose head was laying on Marcello's shoulder as she slept. She looked so peaceful... so blissfully unaware.

"She's been sick, for a long time now. We, well I, never thought she would die. But...her blood work says otherwise."
Kyira pulled the car into the driveway easily and opened Bella's door once she was out.

Zane lifted Bella out so they wouldn't wake her up, "Wow... I-I can't say how sorry I am..."
Marcello got out on his side, shocked into silence.
