Cai attempted to fight off the demons the best he could, protecting Rebecca.

The demons kept coming relentlessly, "Cai, maybe we should fly up. Like, in the sky."

From the air, there were no demons coming at Jason or Estelle. It was like they couldn't come up there.

Cai nodded and flew up to the sky with Reb.

Jason smirked. "try and drop some ice slabs on them" he said as he sent a wave of thunder down on the demons.

Once up in the air, it was as though none of the demons could get to them.

Estelle nodded and created slabs of ice that came down and squashed several demons.

Jason sent down another volley of lightning. "sorta like shooting fish in a barrel isn't it?" he asked throwing more electricity at the demons.

"Well screw that...." Cai mused. He was cut up from the experience on the ground. "Where's M...?"

Rebecca looked around, "I don't know... I don't see him..."

Estelle looked up curiously, "I've never shot at fish in a barrel..."

"Stay herem, okay?" Cai saidm, letting go of Rebecca's hand.

"in other words, really realy reasy" Jason explained sending another volley of lightning down upon the demons.

Rebecca looked around, trying to see where Cai went, but she could't see much of anything.

Estelle nodded, "Oh. That would make sense."

A few moments later, M was thrust up out of the demonsm, but Cai was nowhere to be found.

Rebecca looked worriedly over at M, "Where's Cai?" she asked.
M simply looked down at the demons, then back up at Rebecca. "Give him a second."
"He might not have a second." Rebecca protested and flew back down to try and find him.

Cai was, as before, nowhere to be found.

"Cai!" Rebecca shouted, shoving her way through the demons, ignoring the pain as they ripped into her wings, pulling off feathers, biting into her arms, she didn't notice or care. She just was trying to find Cai.

M dove in, pulling her out. "Rebecca! He'll be okay!"

Rebecca shoved him off, trying to find him still, "I have to find him, M! I have to!" she screamed tears rolling down her cheeks as she struggled to push him off of her.

M locked his arms around her waist and pulled her out of the fray. "Rebecca, no!"

Rebecca continued trying to push away, even though her attempts were in vain, her wings torn and bloody, as well as her arms and legs. Her torso was scratched badly, and she probably wouldn't be able to fly on her own for a night or so. "Cai!" She screamed again, trying to see if maybe he would hear her.

There was, again, no answer. A few hours later, after the demons had been dragged back to their abyss, Cai's body lay on the ground, bloody and broken, but not dead. M let go of Rebecca.

Rebecca fell to the ground, unable to fly, and dumb-struck. It took her a second to realize what had happened, but by the time she did, she had managed to drag herself over to him and rest her head on his chest while she cried.

Cai managed to move his hand to her head, gently stroking it. "I'm sorry...."

Rebecca looked up at him, her eyes red from crying, "Cai?" she whispered.

He nodded a little bit, though pain showed on his face.

Rebecca tried to smile a little, lifting his head into her lap, "Please be alright..."
