Are We Angels? Part 1

Rebecca looked down at Jason, "Someone's pretty banged up. C'mon, let's get him back to M."

"Hope he's not mad...." Cai mused.

Jasoon cried out as a miniature explsion ripped up part of his right wing. the bullets apparantly explded after a time. the first one had passed completely through, but this one had stayed in and exploded in his wing.

Rebecca winced, "That looked painful. Fly fast, Cai."

Cai nodded, trying to keep up.

Rebecca landed in the graveyard, setting Jason down, "You OK?" she asked, a touch of real concern in her voice. She looked up, M glaring at her.
"Where were you and Cai? I worried myself sick over you two last night, wondering when you would get back, or if something had happened..."
"We were fine, M, we just wanted to stay out." Rebecca explained.
"You should have told me!" M shouted.
"I didn't think you'd work yourself into a knot!"
"And why wouldn't I be worried about you?"
"Because you're Mephistopheles! You never worry about anyone! Alright?" Rebecca shot back. M froze, realizing how cold she thought he was, "It was my fault that Cai and I were out so late, OK? I made him stay out with me. It's not his fault, get mad at me, not him. Jason is hurting and I brought him back here because I thought you would help him instead of yelling at me. I know you try to take care of us, but I don't know why." Rebecca looked away, "I'll never understand you. Ever. Why are Cai and I so important that you always go out of your way for us, but never show any sort of true caring? Why?"
M was quiet for a long time, "Because... Rebecca, you're my daughter."

"Reb...." Cai said, putting a hand on her shoulder, intending to stop her before- oh, she said it. This would end interestingly....

Jason was too delerious from pain to really comprehend anything that was being said. he was going in and out of concsiousness.

"I can't deal with this right now." She said simply, pushing Cai off of her and taking off into the sky.
M sighed, "If you want to follow her, I wouldn't recommend it. But, you can. I can tend to Jason myself." he held his hand over Jason's wings and they started healing rapidly. In a matter of seconds, he would be good as new.

"Ah... uh... she's pretty shellshocked by this...."

M nodded, "I figured she would be."

Cai nodded. "Are you sure you should have told her? I mean... well, I don't know." Cai said, sighing.

"She would have found out eventually. I shouldn't have kept it from her in the first place." M sighed, Jason had been healed all the way now, the only signs of his injury were the red stains on his wings.

"I know but... it would have been better if she had been calmer... I'm going to go talk to her." He said, taking off.

M nodded, then turned to Jason, "Feeling better?"

Cai flew off in the direction of Rebecca.

Rebecca was sitting on the top of a bridge, her knees pulled up to her chest as she watched birds fly by.

Cai wordlessly landed and sat next to Rebecca.

"Hey." She said simply, her red wings wrapped around her to keep out the cold.

"Hey." He replied, wrapping one wing around himself and another around her, in some kind of weird hug.

Rebecca sighed, "I'm such an idiot..."

"No you're not. Why would you think that?" He said.

"I should have seen it earlier." Rebecca sighed, "I mean, we have so much in common..."

He shrugged a little. "Yes...."

Rebecca smacked her head against her knees with a thunk, "I feel so stupid..."
