Are We Angels? Part 1

Jason backed quickly away from him. "Sorry, but when I hear the whole, 'you're comming dead or alive thing' it's not exactly easy to just stick around' He said, his hand already on his sword. "As for this time, she started the fight" he said, making a wide circle, planning fully to get angel and get going. he still didn't trust this guy.

M laughed playfully, in a way that was entirely unexpected from him, "Rebecca, darling, you still have a way with words, don't you?"
Rebecca looked over at Jason, the only thing holding her back was M.
"I apologize for her, I should have just sent Cai. I just want to talk to you, Jason. See if we can work out a bargain? I'm not unreasonable, nor am I cruel. Cai and Rebecca only follow me because they want to. I've not got any kind of hold or oath binding them."

"what do you want from me?" jason asked, still making the circle. he wanted to get to Angel. he didn't have any proof that this guy was anything he claimed. He got to angel and picked her up gently in his arms, still keeping his distance, one hand never leaving his sword. First impressions had long memories. the first impression hadn't been too good, and jason hadn't forgotten it.

M hesitated a bit, as if he were trying to figure out weather or not to tell the truth, then spoke, "I need you to help me bring my wife back."
Rebecca seemed shocked, "You never told me you were married."

Jason raised an eyebrow. "and how the hell am i supposed to do that? all I can do is control electricity, so if she's been gone more than a couple of minutes there's nothing i can do" He said, still not relaxing his guard.

"She's been gone for a few hundred years, Jason. And you can help me. Your sword." He said, pointing to the sword on his back, "Can help you travel through time."

Jason's curiousity overcame his usual common sense. "how can it do that?" He asked. "I thought all it could do was boost my power" He said.

"It's a thing of many wonders." M said simply, "I would know. I made it."

Jason blinked. "Okay you lost me there' he said watching this guy. "if you made it, why didn't you just make another?" He asked.

"Because the metal in the sword is a very special kind. The sword you are holding is made of the world's entire supply of it." M explained.
"He's telling the truth..." Rebecca said simply, "You can control electricity, I can tell when people are lying and he's telling you the truth."

Jason was finding this hard to believe. "so how am i supposed to help you?" he eventually asked.

Cai landed next to Rebecca and M, silently.

"Well," M explained, "There is only one person who can use it. It's not you, otherwise you would have figured it out by now. But, since I do not condone stealing, I'd like your permission to find out who can use it."

"how do you know i'm not the one? it let's me boost my powers whenever i want. I just never knew it could even do that. so obviously i never tried" he said.

"Because," M said simply, "It's not a matter of weather you know it can do it or not. If you are the one, it will show you."

"like how would it show me?" He asked. "so far it's only shown me things when i absolutely needed to know it" he said.

"If you were feeling sad, it would take you to a happier time. If you were lonely, it would take you back to when you were with someone you cared about. It's a compassionate thing for a sword." M chuckled lightly.

Jason smirked a bit. "that's probably why it hasn't shown me anything. for sadness, well there isn't any time that could put me happier," he said. "as for lonelyness, i've never had anyone i cared about, so that probably explains why it's never showed that power to me" he said.

M rolled his eyes, "I wasn't being specific. I was just trying to prove that it tries to meet your needs. And besides, I made it a little more special than you would think. It likes to stay in the family. So, only one of my bloodline can use it."

"well it's been letting me use it just fine." he said. "though i don't recognise you in the slightest" he said watching him.

"The stronger powers take someone of my bloodline. Trust me. I only had two children. One died, and the other I keep a careful eye on." M said simply.
Rebecca seemed surprised that she didn't know any of this, "He's speaking the truth." she said simply, looking over to Cai to see if this was news to him as well.

"well who knows, maybe i'm some distant cousin or something" He said shrugging. "I don't remember anything after I woke up one time by the side of the river, so i can't tell ya who my parents or anything were" He said.

M chuckled, "Think what you wish, but I do not believe you can use the sword."

Jason rolled his eyes. he was just starting to think he wished time could stand still so he could ditch this guy and his croonies

Rebecca backed up, going to Cai, but M still was with Jason, "So, I ask you in kindness, will you help me?"
