Blood of the Innocent: Part One

Jason knew he would be in store for a long day. Even as the sun set his wound had not closed or stopped bleeding. The slayers had coated their bullets in an old kind of poison that wouldn't let the wounds close unless treated with long forgotten medicine. He was gasping for breath at times, just trying to stay alive as long a he could.

Adrian smirked. "Do what you need to."

Dianne chuckled, "Sleep. I can't rape you if I'm unconscious."

Adrian laughed a bitm. "I wouldn't mind if you wanted to...." He mused, taking off his shirt and laying back on the bed.

Dianne exhaled, "Sleep, Dianne, just remember you're only going to sleep."

Adrian chuckled. "We don't have to do this...."

Dianne laughed, "Yes, but it was a good idea." she laid down next to him, snuggling close.

Adrian smiled and shook his head, putting his arm around her.

Within a few seconds, Dianne was sound asleep, or at least was very good at pretending to be.

Adrian smiled a bit and snuggled against her, falling asleep.

Come morning Jason was hardly conscious. His eyes were only half open and by now his blood was pooling around him. "adare I think i'm done for..." he murmured in her mind. He doubted she could find him in time to help,e ven if she did know how to stop the poison that kept him bleeding.

The moon was just barely over the horizon when Adare showed up, standing next to Jason with a slightly irritated expression on her face, "Well now... It would seem as though everyone gets into trouble without me there to watch them." She took Jason's hand and pulled him up onto his feet, healing the wound, "I could get the poison out of your system, too, but I'll warn you, it's messy."

Dianne woke once the moon rose, exhaling with a chuckle, "Sleep well?"

"what would you have to do and what will happen if you leave it as is?" Jason asked watching her. "and sorry about bugging you but I can't help it if the slayers used some sort of poison on me" he said slightly irritated as well.

Adrian rubbed his eyes and smiled. "Yes. Did you?"

Dianne nodded, "Surprisingly well, actually. Since I wasn't too worried about Dominic coming in while I was sleeping and killing me, I think that helped."

"I'm not irritated at you bothering me, which you were doing, I'm irritated that I couldn't get here sooner." she paused, "And by messy I mean you'll be throwing up for a long while. And the poison won't really kill you, it'll just keep you virtually powerless as long as it's in you're body."

"ugh i'd rather have it out than be powerless. It's bad enough I can't control what power I got but it'd be worse not to have it at all" he said. "i'll get myself a big bucket" he said grabbing a very large garbage can.

Adare nodded and pressed the palm of her hand against his head. It pulsed red and made a sound like a beating heart, which almost sounded as though it were Jason's, and immediately the urge to throw up overcame him.

Jason threw his head down and let the poison leave his system that way. At that point she could see three, what looked like water droplets, forming a circle on his neck. Jason, of course, never knew it was there, but it was sort of a power seal, meant to restrict power. It was very crudely made, so it probably wasn't always effective.

Adrian laughed. "Actually, he's too concerned with this 'Arete' crap to do something dishonorable."

"You mean Adare?" Dianne asked.

Adare didn't say anything about this for a long while, letting him focus on what he was doing at the moment, "This usually lasts about an hour or so, just so you know."

Jason felt his bowels move again. "i can take it." he said between wretches. The black marks seemed to glow red every time he voided his stomach contents to the can.

"No, Arete. It's a Spartan thing." He said.

Adare nodded, "Just give it a little while."

"are you going to stay here with me?" He asked looking up at her. his eyes betrayed just a small bit of fear before he had to unleash his bowels once more in the can.

"Yes." Adare said simply, "At least until the sun rises again."
