Bio: Rowan grew up in a wealthy, strict household with a free spirit. Through her teenage years, she was rebellious in any way she could, ending up an alcoholic before she was a legal adult. Her family disowned her when she was 17, and now she's living in a shabby apartment in a bad part of town, hooked on several drugs with no job, being forced to work as a prostitute for money to keep herself alive. Some weeks, she buys her drugs and goes without food, so she is ridiculously skinny.

Bio: Jason was born into a poor home with an abused mother and an alcoholic father. As soon as he was able, he escaped that house and set out on his own, with nothing but the clothes on his back and his guitar. His goal in life is to someday perform on the big stage, instead of in the local bars... To make ends meet, he became a street brawler at a young age, eventually scrapping together enough for a used mustang. Now he earns his livelihood on the underground racing circuit, brawling when necessary to afford gas or guitar strings. Considering money has been a problem his whole life, he never attended a day of school, and lacks any reading abilities, or any knowledge of history that isn't broadcasted on tv. He luckily had a knack for math and was able to learn it on his own, but he could never teach himself how to read. Sadly, many bar owners take advantage of his illiteracy give him contracts that say he will play for no money...

Rowan hated the rain. She remembered the girls from her school and all their romantic fantasies of being kissed in the rain, blissfully unaware of how un-romantic getting colds truly was. She sat on the curb with her black umbrella over her head, almost pulling it down to hide her face, the seat of her pants wet. But, if she wasn't sitting here, she couldn't get work tonight. No work meant no food or the drugs that kept her afloat. She had tried to quit once or twice. The head-splitting aches, the nausea, the pain of trying to go without... She couldn't stand it. She had managed to drop a couple, now only hooked on heroin, meth, and alcohol. Three was a good number for her anymore.
She held her umbrella between her knees as she rubbed her hands up and down her arms, her teeth chattering with the cold of the rain. Maybe she could just go back home in a little while if no one happened by... Somehow, this seemed unlikely. Her rent payment was due soon and she only had half of the check in her bedroom drawer, not to mention it had been five days since she had eaten. Already her body seemed so fragile... Like if she moved her umbrella, the rain could break her.

Jason sighed as he left the bar. "duped again" he muttered. once again he had been swindled into performing for free. His car had broken down again, and was currently almost on the other side of town. He zipped up his jacket and set out walking. He noticed the girl sitting alone on the sidewalk. "are you lost?" he asked walking up to her, his guitar slung over his back.

She let out a quick chuckle, "No, I live right down the road. I'm trying to work. I'm out of money again."

"well we're in the same money boat then" He said chuckling. "I don't know what kind of work you're trying to do" he said. "and I don't want to know" he added quickly, "but you should really get out of the rain. if you're out of money I doubt you could afford medicine for a cold or worse" he said smiling kindly at her.

She laughed quickly, "Trust me; people like you are my main customers. But hey, if you aren't interested, it's fine." she stood, "But I can't give up yet. I haven't eaten in three days."

Jason chuckled. "well if you need food, I can treat you to some McDonalds" he offered. "it's not much, but if you haven't eaten, it will fill you up. if the heart attacks don't get you first" he said laughing.

She nodded, "That would be nice, actually."

Jason smiled and offered her his hand to help her up. "then come on" he said helping her up. He didn't seem at all phased by the rain that kept comming down on him.

She smiled, "Thanks." she held her umbrella out over them.

Jason led her to the nearest McDonalds a block or so away. He held the door open for her before following her inside. "just order anything you want, my treat" he said grinning at her.

"I can't eat a lot. My stomach shrank over the years." she said simply.

"i'm in the same boat, so no worries' he said smiling at her. "whatever you don't eat just save for later" he said shrugging.

She nodded, "Alright. Just get me a cheeseburger then. I should be fine with just that."

Jason nodded, ordering one for her and one for him as well. Once they had their order he sat with her at one of the various booths. "i happen to think eating lunch is more fun when you're not alone' he said smiling as he took a bite of his cheeseburger.

She nodded, "You're right. I'm usually by myself during the day."

Jason chuckled. "if you want, you're welcome to hang out with me" he offered shrugging. "granted i spend a lot of time playing music, so if that bugs you it might not be a good idea" he said laughing.

"Depends on what you play, and how good you are at it. And how often I've got work." she mused, eating her food.

"I can play just about anything, and i'm really good at it" he said. "as for your work, well i can't do anything about that" he said shrugging.

"I'm aware. It's not fun work, I assure you." She exhaled, pushing her hair back with her hand, "What's your name again? I didn't quite catch it."

Jason Amaroq" he said quickly "i didn't catch your name either now that you mention it" he remarked watching her.

"Rowan Galveston." she said simply, "Nice to meet you."

"the pleasure is mine" he said smiling at her. "so after you finish your burger where are you headed?" he asked curiously.
