Zane could feel a clear, distinct knot in his stomach forming as Kyira grew farther and farther away. Sure, Kalvin was a nice guy, who would try his best to protect her and wouldn't dream of hurting her, but he couldn't help but worry about her. Anymore, she was one of the few friends he had left.
Janzelle was awake now, seemingly amazed that she couldn't hear her father in her head anymore and was also equally amazed that Adrian really was there and she hadn't been dreaming it all. She sat next to him in the barn, which was surprisingly comfortable, and refused to leave his side.
Bella was tired, though that was to be expected, and the couple that had allowed them to stay had almost converted their barn into a small boarding house for everyone. The stables, which were all very clean, had fresh hay put in, which was then covered in blankets. This, surrounded by the coziness of the barn, made for a relatively comfortable living environment until Kyira and Kalvin could return.

Adrian sat atop a hay bale, his feet swaying under him.

Nathan was laying down in the hay, content as could be.

Janzelle laid her head on Adrian's shoulder, smiling happily, as if this was one of the best moments of her life. Bella had taken the time to brush out her hair so it wasn't quite so... crazy-looking, and she almost looked normal. Almost.

"Care to join us" Adrian asked Bella.

Bella nodded, "I would if I could, but..." she looked down at her leg.

Jason watched her. He had never left her side, not even for a second. "if you really want I could move you" he said reluctantly. He had so far been getting her everything she needed.

Bella shook her head, closing her eyes, "You've done enough."

Jason smiled at her. "hey don't worry about that just focus on getting better" he said smiling kindly at her. he looked over at zane. "can you find me some of those yellow berries and the peach fuzz leaves?" jason asked. he came up with wierd names for herbs but both jason and zane knew what he was talking about when he said it.

Zane nodded, "The ones with thorns or without?"

"without. The ones with gave you a rash last time we tested it remember?" jason asked laughing at the memory. "i'd rather use something we know works"

Zane nodded and walked out of the barn, then flew off, leaving a few black feathers behind him.

Jason smiled at bella. "don't worry, i know what i'm doing." he said nodding. "just needed him to grab a few herbs so i can make a good painkiller for you" he explained.

Bella nodded, not really all the way paying attention.

jason rolled his eyes a bit, knowing she was ignoring him mostly. he watched the sky waiting for zane to return.
